International Credit Union Day 2024
10/17/2024
On October 17, 2024, credit union members worldwide will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event that honors the impact and achievements of the credit union movement. This year marks the 76th anniversary, celebrated under the theme "One World Through Cooperative Finance."
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that offer a strong alternative to traditional, for-profit financial institutions, serving over 403 million members in 98 countries. With more than 82,000 credit unions globally, they play a key role in delivering diverse financial services to their members and driving positive economic and social change.
Tremont Credit Union, based in Boston with branches in Milton, Dorchester, and Roslindale, proudly serves Norfolk, Suffolk, and Middlesex counties, as well as over 250 Select Employment Groups. With an asset size of $265 million, Tremont Credit Union focuses on delivering personalized service to our members and giving back to the communities we serve. Our top priority is the well-being of our members and the areas we support.
Since 1948, International Credit Union Day® has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October, providing a chance to reflect on the rich history of credit unions and to promote awareness of the credit union difference. As many as 1.4 billion people worldwide remain unbanked, and credit unions are uniquely positioned to serve these underserved populations. We hope this important message resonates throughout the global movement on October 17.
Organized by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), and supported by numerous national credit union associations, International Credit Union Day® unites credit unions around the world.
